IT asset disposition (ITAD) brings collection, data sanitization, reuse, recycling, and documentation into one retirement project. Michigan Electronic Recycling helps organizations clear retired equipment while protecting data and recovering value where practical.
We coordinate commercial pickups across Michigan, including multi-location collections, office refreshes, and data center decommissions. Equipment quantities, access, processing requirements, reporting, and pricing are agreed upon before collection.
Data Sanitization & Physical Destruction
We use NIST SP 800-88 clear or purge methods appropriate to the storage media and your requirements. Compatible computers can be wiped through Aiken PXE workflows without removing their drives; standalone wiping equipment and Active@ KillDisk provide additional processing options.
Media that cannot be sanitized can be physically shredded. Sanitization and destruction include serialized documentation. We agree on the required method and any equipment that must not be reused before processing.
Mobile Device Retirement
We accept business phones and tablets as part of IT retirement projects. Tell us the models, quantities, condition, and any device-management or activation locks so we can assess processing and reuse options.
Your team should arrange authorized removal from management systems and accounts when reuse is intended. The sanitization or destruction method depends on the device and your requirements; we do not assume every locked or damaged device can be wiped successfully.
Reuse First, Responsible Recycling
Suitable equipment receives priority for reuse after required data processing. Devices without a practical reuse path are directed to electronics recycling.
If your organization requires whole-device destruction, asset-tag removal, or restrictions on resale, identify those requirements when requesting a quote. Handling and price vary by equipment type and project scope.
Recover Value Where It Exists
Resalable equipment may offset collection and processing costs. Value depends on model, age, condition, completeness, and market demand; functioning equipment does not automatically have resale value.
Recent business computers and enterprise equipment are worth reviewing. Send an inventory with specifications and quantities so we can assess recovery potential and explain how it affects your quote.
Documentation Matched to Your Project
We agree on inventory and reporting requirements before pickup. Reporting can include serialized equipment lists, drive sanitization or destruction records, and counts of peripherals or other non-serialized items.
On-site recording of serial numbers is available by request for drives already removed from equipment. Branch-level records and consolidated reports can be arranged and may incur additional fees.
